Button Tree on Burlap

You know that saying, you are the company which you keep?

When it comes to my friends this is sooooo true.

All my friends are gorgeous, smart, and kind, so, therefore, I must be, too. Natch.

Not only are all my friends lovely, but they are also talented in so many ways. The best part is it is not at all competitive (and if you know me, I know this is hard to believe). Instead, I enjoy and celebrate the talents my friends possess because remember I am the company I keep, and you best believe I’m gonna try to emulate their crafts.  Yesterday, my sister-in-law Courtney (gorg, smart, and sweet, obvi) sent me a text of her latest craft. I absolutely adore it. I gushed over it, and decided to share it with you all.

Best of all, it is a quick craft, it uses BURLAP (holler!), and it’s perfect for the holiday season.

Isn’t it darling?

While a tutorial probably isn’t necessary for this cute button tree on burlap, I’ll give you a quick run down of materials and directions.

Here’s what you’ll need for the button tree on burlap:

- burlap (burlapfabric.com is my choice supplier of burlap because, yes, one has to have a choice supplier of burlap)

- Buttons

- a glue gun with glue sticks

- a frame— without the glass

Here’s what you’ll do:

- Cut the appropriate size of burlap for your frame.

- Adhere/secure the burlap onto the mdf backing of the frame

- Arrange and then glue the buttons.

So quick, so easy, yet, so cute. You could adapt this craft for other winter shapes, such as a snowflake or even a wreath. Better yet, you may be able to think of additional designs for other seasons.

Thanks for sharing this one, Courtney. Now, excuse me while I whip up one of these button trees on burlap!

Easy DIY Give Thanks Wreath

This Give Thanks Wreath is perfect for Thanksgiving. I know, I know, Thanksgiving is but a few days away, but this wreath is so simplistic and lovely that you could be hanging one up in your house/door in less than 10 minutes– just in time for Turkey day and the upcoming holiday seasons.

My friend Bailey and I both made these one evening. She, with the help of our friend Katie, added some burlap flowers. And you know, if it’s burlap, naturally, I’m in love. I, on the other hand, wrapped wrapped some upholstery webbing around mine, and called it a day. Either way, I love both of them.

Here’s What You’ll Need to create your Give Thanks Wreath:

- Grapevine wreath

- Twine

-White paint (paintbrush, obvi)

-Stencils (we used Martha Stewart’s Stencils)

-Burlap (Burlapfabric.com, holler).

 Aren’t Bailey’s burlap flowers cute?

Easy Webbing Bunting

Easy Webbing Garland

If you have been with teachlovecraft since the beginning, then you know that I have a slight obsession with a couple of things: Burlap and Buntings/Garland/Banners. So, it should come as no surprise that I have created yet another bunting/garland/banner (I still don’t know what the heck I am supposed to call them).  This time it’s made out of jute webbing. You know, the stuff used to upholster furniture?

This easy webbing bunting is, well, super easy.

Here’s what you’ll need:

- Jute Webbing… no surprise here, I got mine from burlapfabric.com

- Twine

-Hot Glue Gun and Hot Glue Sticks

Here’s what you’ll do:

- Cut the webbing into flags — I cut my webbing into rectangles, and then fold it in half to cut a symmetrical triangle at the bottom.

- Take your desired length of twine, fold each pennant over the twine, and glue. This time I did not make my pennants fixed, instead they can slide along the twine.

- Throw that sucker up somewhere.

I scrounged up some other autumnal delights, and made myself a little festive display on the buffet.
